Hi ya’ll! We are only days away from Lila’s first birthday! I seriously can’t believe it. We took her smash cake photos a few Sundays ago, and I just can’t wait to share them any longer! I love them so much. Wyatt’s Aunt Julie took the photos, and they are so beautiful and exactly what I envisioned. Aunt Julie or JJ has taken all of our favorite photos of Lila and these are no exception!
For the photos, I wanted to keep it fairly simple and I wanted them outdoors. I thought having the photos on the beach would be perfect since she is our little summer baby. Since her party is a luau theme, I thought the beach also kind of matched her party theme. We went down to the beach right around sundown, and we got the most gorgeous natural lighting. For props, I just got a crate box and gold “ONE” banner from Hobby Lobby (of course). I also laid down this blanket that we already had from Ikea bedding. It is just white and has a beautiful texture.
On Lila, we got a tutu by Mudpie that was ivory and gold. We had it taken in a little so it fit perfectly. I made her flower crown after a small fiasco with the one I ordered from Etsy. Making her crown was so easy that I am going to make her another one for her party! Then we jut grabbed a cake from the grocery store. I planned on making the cake myself, but I discovered icing a tiered cake is out of my wheelhouse. I hope ya’ll enjoy the photos! We are just over the moon about them.
I do have to add though that Lila wanted nothing to do with the cake. Once we stuck her finger in it and she realized it was sticky and messy she got up and walked away. We were laughing so hard. That’s Lila; she is definitely opinionated and only does what she wants. I can’t complain though because I had a clean baby after a cake smash! We’ll have to see if she eats her birthday cake or still hates it!
I am so happy to be sharing these photos! And I am so so excited that we are one step closer to her actual birthday and her party! First birthday photos are so fun and special, and it doesn’t have to be too hard or elaborate. I totally recommend everyone take some sweet photos of their baby around the first birthday! It really is such a milestone and deserves to be celebrated!
