I never thought I would say the words “I want to be a pinterest mom” but here I am, shouting it from the rooftops. Trying to be a pinterest mom is giving me an eye twitch. No joke, a 7 day long eye twitch in my right eye. But I can’t stop now. I feel like I’m almost there. I’m so close to pinterest Nirvana that if I stop now I’ll never reach my destiny.
You might be wondering what has driven to me to this eye twitching madness, and that would be a birthday party… for a one year old. Lila is days away from being 11 months old which means we are 34 days away from celebrating her sweet, perfect and glorious first year of life. So for the past couple of months I have been in full party planning mode. We are having a luau for her party and I have been gathering supplies and making lists and making cookies. Making so many cookies. A surplus of cookies.
Now cookies really don’t have much to do with any birthday party, the typical dessert is a cake. Of which we will have two. And you may already know but the sugar cookies decorated perfectly with royal icing are super gorgeous and a super must have for me. I got some prices for these cookies and they were just way out of the budget I had anticipated for cookies, considering all the other things I want for her party. So, I have decided to make them myself. And it’s turned me into a sugar and flour covered crazy person. But I can’t lie I am kind of obsessed with making these cookies! It’s so fun and challenging. The type A, perfectionist that I am has latched onto the challenging part and cannot stop trying to perfect them! Seriously I’m hooked.
Since I am loving the cookies so much I have upped the ante on myself. Not only am I going to make and decorate luau themed cookies, but I’ve decided I want a whole dessert table. A pinterest worthy dessert table to be honest. But what can I say, I want everything to be perfect for my soon to be birthday girl! Planning this party is driving me crazy, but I would do anything for that baby, even if she won’t remember it. I really never thought I would be a pinterest mom or even want to be. I truthfully consider myself more of a wine mom, but I guess people really can change lol.
I can’t wait to share more party details with ya’ll! And even though it’s given me an eye twitch, it is seriously so much fun to plan a perfect day for your baby. Let me know in the comments what you themed your baby’s first birthday and what you decided to DIY! What do you love more a good pinterest session or a glass of wine? Or do you believe they are best paired? haha
PS if you want to try your hand at decorating cookies here are a few blogs I have been using!
These are all so great and helpful!
